The District received a CDBG grant from Kern County to purchase electronic smart water meters for the District. These meters will increase water monitoring, will increase meter reading accuracy, will more efficiently and quickly detect leaks, and significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to manually read the meters. Further, the Smart meters are solid state with no moving parts and thus will provide accurate efficient metering for many years into the future. District staff will perform the smart meter installations. With over 3300 water services, this project is expected to be completed, District wide, by December 2021.
