The Lamont Public Utility District is located in the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley within Kern County, California. The District is approximately 10 miles south/southeast of the City of Bakersfield. It consists of a single service area providing drinking water and water waste treatement services to approximately 18,000 residents and businesses.
The District’s service area, comprising approximately 2400 acres generally extends approximately one-half mile to East and West of Weedpatch Hwy (State Route 184, known locally as the Main Street). The District extends south to approximately Bear Mountain Blvd and North to Panama Lane. This service area encompasses the unincorporated communities of Lamont and Weedpatch, along with some developed lands in the immediate vicinity.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant ("WWTP") is located northwest and southwest of the intersection of East Bear Mountain Boulevard (State Route 223) and Weedpatch Hwy (State Route 184), encompassing approximately 640 acres.
